The Society sponsors a number of events throughout the year for the benefit of our members and the Society. Some of the events are fund raisers that provide the monetary resources we need for our Scholarship fund. Fund raisers are open to the general public as well as members but in nearly all cases members will receive a discounted fee.
Some events, such as your crewing of Alma for the Master Mariners race are open only to members of the Society and are a benefit of your membership.
Our meetings are open to anyone desiring to attend, however, we ask a small donation of non-members to cover meeting expenses.
We also list on this page events outside the Bay Area that we feel our membership might be interested in knowing about.

Anchor Throughout the year! Join your board of directors for their monthly meeting and become involved in your society. All members are always welcome as we meet to discuss scholarships, programs and sails.
Meetings are generally held at the Sausalito Yacht Club. It is, however, wise to give us a call at 415.251.8779 to make sure that the meeting is still on and at that the location has not changed.
Also we usually share a dinner; either something being served by the club or something we bring in so if you want to join us (Dutch treat) for dinner we need to know you are coming!
This year we are meeting on the following days:
  • Monday, August 23rd
  • Monday, September 27th
  • Monday, October 25th
  • Monday, November 22nd
  • December... we take the month off! Happy Holidays!
Jazz & Blues August 27th

Golden Gate Tall Ships Society night at Jazz & Blues by the Bay!

Sausalito’s summertime Jazz & Blues by the Bay concerts has become a legendary local favorite. Breathtaking views of Angel Island, San Francisco and the Bay provide the backdrop for this Friday night celebration at Gabrielson Park in downtown Sausalito.

Last year the Society sponsored one of these Friday evening events and it was a rip-roaring success. No only were we able to get the word our about our Society, it proved to be one of our very best fund raisers for our scholarship program. Needless to say we want to repeat that performance.

Once again, we are lucky in that we have been given the night with the biggest headliner of the event, Eugene Huggins. We need to man both the drink and food booths for the evening... that is how we make the money for our scholarships. Details will be out shortly but mark you calendars now, members, and plan to either visit the festival or come and help us man the food booths throught the evening. Not only does it help us with our scholarships... it is a lot of fun!

Join fellow members on board Gas Light for the San Francisco Yacht Club's Great San Francisco Bay Schooner Race!

Last year a group of vintage schooner owners organized the first race/event for their vessels. Named The Great San Francisco Bay Schooner Race it proved to be a fantastic success and now augments the Master Mariners Regatta for excitement and visual appeal, not to mention bragging rights for the winner.

This year they are out to repeat the event and make it even bigger and better. And, best of all, we have the opportunity to offer our members a chance to not only view the races but to become one of the participants. Looking for excitement, big boats, a view from the middle of the action? Join us for our fund raising sail on Gas Light in this year’s Great San Francisco Bay Schooner Race

We’ve chartered Gas Light to give you not only a look at all of the marvelous boats under full sail but to actually compete in the event (hint… don’t bet what’s left of your 401K on her winning). It should be a fantastic day of spectacular boats under full sail.

The day starts with boarding Gas Light at the San Francisco Yacht Club in Tiburon at 10:00. The boat sails promptly at 10:30 to join the 11:00 parade of schooners down Raccoon straight followed by a pursuit race at noon starting off the Knox buoy. Following the completion of the racehere'll be a post-race no-host barbecue on the San Francisco Yacht Club clubhouse deck with live, music; the beer is free but there is a $20 charge (payable in cash) for the barbecue. It’s a full day of some of the most spectacular sailing boats that you will ever see in one place at one time on San Francisco Bay (hint… don’t forget your camera!). So pack up a lunch, grab the camera and make it a day with us on the bay!
